Physical volcanology and metallogenesis of the Ni-Cu-PGE deposits in the Cape Smith Belt, Québec, Canada – FT01 – SOLD OUT

|Description: The Cape Smith belt is part of the of the extensive Circum-Superior belt occurring along the Superior craton that exhibit an exceptional nickel endowment with the world-class district such as the Thompson and the Raglan districts. The Cape Smith host several magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE sulfide deposits that occur predominantly within two main trends recognized as the Raglan trend (i.e., Katinniq trend) and the South trend (i.e., Expo-Ungava trend). This field trip provides an overview of the physical volcanology of komatiitic basalt magmatism in the Cape Smith Belt and its associated Ni-Cu-PGE deposits along the Raglan trend. Surface tours will include exposures of komatiitic basalts, mineralized komatiitic peridotite lava channels, country rocks, and unmineralized differentiated sills and it will be complemented by underground exposures, drill cores examination, and some evening lectures.|
